Nuisance Wildlife Trapping is a feasible choice if you cannot settle your wildlife conflict by other means, such as habitat modification. SUGGESTION: If a bat is in your living space it’s best we live-trap it since generally there will be more than one in your attic. Plus, bats can carry rabies, and you don’t want to get bitten. If you do try to trap a bat and get bitten, please keep the bat for testing.
Basic Types Of Nuisance Wildlife Trapping Designs
Quick Kill Traps quickly kill the captured animal, like the small traps used to kill mice, moles, and sometimes a trap like the GREEN HORNET TRAP which quickly kills larger wildlife like squirrels or raccoons.
The Live-Holding Trap, also called a cage trap, shuts when an animal like a squirrel, raccoon, or possum steps on the treadle, or pan, located inside the trap. When the critter trips the treadle, the door, or doors, at the end(s) of the trap close. Once in the trap, we release the animal on your property, relocate it, or in the last resort, euthanize it with your permission, of course.
When We Will Not Keep Live Trapped Wildlife – A Nursing Mother
When an adult animal is trapped, we examine the animal for swollen teats nearly free of hair, which means it may be a female nursing newborn. We do this by standing the trap up on end and see the belly of the animal. In such a case, we release the female on-site if trapped outside of your home so she can tend to her young, assuming your home has no young within.
We know that permanently parting a nursing female from her babies would likely cause them to starve to death. Our goal is to always trap animals as humanely as possible and seperating a mother from its babies is inhumane. Cruelty is unacceptable at BATS R US WILDLIFE LLC!
What We Can Do With Live-Trapped Animals: The Three Options
When we use this option, an animal is trapped and released on your property after we have made sure getting back into your home or buildings is prevented by our sealing exclusion prevention process. If young are present but were not noticed prior to trapping, this option enables the female to tend to her dependent offspring.
Option 2: Relocate the animal on Off your property
Once an animal is live-trapped, it’s easiest to release it on your property once we have sealed up all possible entry points. But, Connecticut laws are strict about releasing live animals off your property.

Bats
Once a few bats enter a building, they can gather in larger numbers over time and create extensive damage from their guano and urine buildup, plus cause an unhealthy environment due to diseases and parasites.
Birds
Birds like pigeons, starlings, woodpeckers, and barn swallows can overtake a building and cause destruction due to their nesting materials, feces, drilling of holes, and accompanying parasites and diseases.
Groundhogs
Groundhogs trapping is not difficult. Once live-trapped they are released on your property or euthanized
Mice & Rats
When dealing with mice and rats we use either Quick Kill traps or bait boxes.
Moles
Moles cause serious damage to lawns, flower beds, and gardens. They also rip up the roots of a tree. Quick-kill traps must be used to get rid of them.
Possums
We set possum traps in locations on your property where they cause damage. Fish, canned cat or dog food are good opossum baits. Once caught they must be released on your property or euthanized.
Raccoons
Raccoons are generally live trapped and then released on your property. It’s important we seal all points into your home so the raccoon cannot get back in.
Skunks
Skunks love canned or fresh fish, chicken, and bacon, so they are our favorite baits for trapping skunks. Once live-trapped, we released them on your property after sealing up any area that the skunks inhabited.
Squirrels
We usually live-trap squirrels then release them back on your property after we have properly sealed your home.
